About Neeraj
Neeraj has been passionate about percussion from an early age. He commenced his training at the tender age of five, under the guidance of Pandit Ramkrishna Bose, and has developed a keen sense of aesthetics in his rendition of the instrument. Apart from the Guru-Shishya parampara, Neeraj has undergone formal training in Tabla from the Sarbabhartiya Sangeet O Sanskriti Parishad, Kolkata, passing with distinction in the 7th year. Neeraj has given numerous performances at various institutions. He has participated in the Saptak competition, Ahmedabad, as a Yuva Kalakar, and has performed at the Maharana Kumbha Sangeet Samaroh, Udaipur; The City Palace, Udaipur; the Dhrupad Samaroh; the Jaipur Kala Mahotsav; and the Indian Music Experience, Bangalore, to name a few. He has also been the recipient of the Udayman Kalakar award, presented by the Maharana Kumbha Sangeet Parishad. Neeraj accompanies his father, Shree Bhargav Mistry, a renowned Sarod artist, and his brother, Drupad. Apart from the Tabla, he plays several other instruments, including the Hand Pan. He has developed a unique signature style that combines the sounds of the Tabla and the Hand Pan, creating an overall ethereal musical experience. Neeraj has contributed his art to two international music albums, "Road to India" and "Shanti Peace Mantras," both produced by Silk Road Communications and distributed by Universal Music.
